1. What we collect
Things you give us
- Account details: your username, display name, password (stored only as a salted hash), date of birth and, if you add one, your email address.
- Profile: your avatar, banner, bio, pronouns and any badges you choose to show.
- Content: messages, attachments, reactions and the servers and channels you create.
- Support: anything you send us when you report a problem or contact us.
Things collected automatically
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type, and sign-in sessions, which we use to keep your account secure and stop abuse.
- Service logs: errors and performance data, which help us find and fix problems.
2. End-to-end encryption
Direct messages and group DMs are encrypted in your browser before they're sent. Our servers only store the encrypted version and don't have the keys to read it. Messages in server channels aren't end-to-end encrypted, so they're stored in a form we can access when needed to run and protect the service.
3. How we use it
- to run Infernite and deliver your messages;
- to keep accounts secure and prevent spam, fraud and abuse;
- to enforce the Terms and Community Guidelines;
- to fix bugs and improve performance, especially during the beta;
- to contact you about your account or important changes.
We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for advertising.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete content or your account, we remove it from the live service, and backups roll over within a reasonable period. Some information may be kept longer where the law requires it or to deal with abuse.
6. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and account details at any time in settings.
- Delete messages you've sent, or delete your whole account.
- Ask us for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or erase it.
Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under local law. Contact us and we'll help.
7. Security
We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords and end-to-end encryption for DMs. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong, unique password and turn on two-factor authentication.
8. Children
Infernite isn't for children under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has an account, we'll close it.
10. Changes
We'll update this policy as Infernite changes. If a change is significant, we'll let you know before it takes effect.
11. Contact
Privacy questions and requests can go to the people who run Infernite.
